Dean will be stepping back in time with team mate, Macauley Jones, for this weekends Sandown 500.
Traditionally known as the “retro round”, it gives teams the opportunity to have fun with old liveries. The #21 Team CoolDrive entry will honour the old Ozemail livery that BJR raced in the early 2000s. This particular retro livery is extra special due to the Jones family history.
Dean: “It’s pretty cool that we get to run this livery as it holds extra special meaning for Macca. Brad raced with this livery and the number 21 so for Macca to get in and honour his Dad is pretty special for them. It’s nice to be a part of it.”
“They are like one huge family at BJR and they’ve definitely welcomed me and my family into the fold so I feel privileged to be a part of it.”
While the livery holds special memories for the BJR team, it’s brought up some emotions of a different kind for Dean.
Dean: “It’s a pretty good way to make a bloke feel old! I raced against this livery at Bathurst in 2004 and now it’s classed as retro! On top of that, my co-driver was only 10 at the time.”
Dean will be the first to jump into the car at Sandown with the co-driver session on Friday morning.
