Dean & Dave have finally made it onto the podium in the Pirtek Enduro Cup with a second place at the Gold Coast 600 today.
The day started with Qualifying in the morning with Dave putting a solid performance & qualifying in P10 and going through to the Top 10 Shootout. His lap time in the shootout moved him up to P8 for the race.
Dean started the race & after a great start, quickly moved up to 5th. At lap 34, Dean had finished his laps & handed the car over to Dave, still in 5th position. With faultless pit stops from the Bottle-O crew & good race pace, Dave quickly moved the car up to 2nd.
Towards the end of the race Dave held a comfortable gap between himself & Lowndes, in 3rd, but a safety car for debris on the track, closed the field up. With 14 laps to go, Lowndes was all over the back of Dave but he managed to hold him off & crossed the finish line in 2nd.
Dean: “It’s great to finally make it back on to the podium. It was definitely disappointing to not be there for Sandown or Bathurst so it’s a great feeling to be there at the Gold Coast. It’s not a win but it still feels pretty good & it’s nice to get a podium for the Bottle-O crew who have worked so hard & haven’t put a foot wrong throughout the whole Enduro Cup.”
Sunday sees another Qualifying at 11:55am followed by the race at 2:30pm.
