The Toyota 86 series is getting revved up for it’s second round at Sydney Motorsport Park in August & Dean is getting ready to join them.
The series is a key support category at selected rounds of the 2016 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship and has already built an enthusiastic fan base. With a huge field of 38 cars expected to line up at the next round, the category will no doubt see some ultra close racing & hard fought battles.
An integral part of the category are the three invited drivers who are brought in to help mentor regular competitors and mix things up on the track. The Sydney Motorsport Park round sees Dean join the field alongside Alex Davison and Cameron McConville.
Dean has a keen interest in the series and spent time supporting Jon McCorkindale at the first round at Winton Raceway. He’s looking forward to getting behind the wheel this time.
“This will be my first chance to actually drive the 86 car myself. The cars are closely matched and with a such a huge field, there should be some great action on track for the fans.”
“I’m looking forward to sampling the car so I can provide better feedback and support to the younger guys in the field. There’s some incredible young talent in the field & if I can help a young find a tenth here or there, I’ll walk away feeling pretty happy with that.”
The T86RS schedule for the Sydney Motorsport Park will feature two practice periods, a single qualifying session and three races. The round runs from August 26th to 28th.
