Dean has had an ideal start to the Bathurst 1000 weekend, topping the time sheets in both of the co-driver practice sessions.
Thursday saw three practice sessions with the middle one for co-drivers only. The session was interrupted twice by red flag periods but Dean fired in a 2:06.32 in the final seconds of the session putting him to the top of the time sheet and 0.4s faster then the next fastest car of Steve Owen.
Dean: “It was great to make some improvements from the first practice session where we were struggling. There is still more work to be done but it’s nice to be sitting at the top on Thursday.”
The Friday co-driver session was also interrupted by a red flag. Dean set the pace early in the session but as the session went on the times continued to drop, pushing him further down in the time sheet. Again, in the final moments of the session, Dean posted a 2:05.33 just pipping James Golding by 0.0088s.
Dean: “It’s always great to see a 2:05 on the dashboard and then get the call that you’re P1. I ran on one set of tyres for quite a while in that session so getting high fives on high kilometre tyres which gives us confidence.”
The cars will hit the track at 3:50pm Friday for the Qualifying session which will be contested by the main drivers.
