I wanted to take the time to write a post to say a huge thankyou for all the support I received over the Bathurst weekend & also talk about a couple of things that happened after the race.
As you would’ve all seen, the team were posting regular updates on my social media feeds so thank you to them for doing this for me. But I was really shocked & overwhelmed when I was handed my phone back to see literally hundreds & hundreds of messages of support from my followers. I apologise for not replying sooner but I want you all to know that I read every single message, there just wasn’t time to reply to them all individually. I will try & keep on top of it better at the Gold Coast. As you saw, I was very emotional after the race & it actually took me a while before I could read through the messages because every time I tried to read your kind words, I got a bit teary again!
I want to say hi and thank you to all of my new followers. I had over 1,000 new followers just on Facebook during the Bathurst week so thanks for the follow & I hope you enjoyed the posts.
I also wanted to address some comments that were made about interviews & images shown straight after the car stopped. Firstly, a huge thanks to Mark Larkham for not interviewing me. He came into the garage with the camera crew & saw the tears & kindly left me alone. I was very aware that I would probably be interviewed so it meant a lot when he let me be. However, a lot of people made comment that the camera crew shouldn’t have filmed my wife consoling me when we were in the garage. Yes, it was a private moment between us but we are both aware that it goes with the territory & we were not at all concerned that they filmed us & showed it on the TV.
So thanks again to you all. I will try & keep updating my social media as much as possible over the Gold Coast weekend & hopefully I’ll be posting a photo of a surfboard as well!
